Meta AI in Ads Manager: what the business assistant does in 2026
“Meta AI in Ads Manager” is the Meta AI business assistant: a chat built into Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite and Business Support Home that answers questions about your ad account, suggests changes you can apply with one click, and fixes account problems such as disabled accounts, spend limits and payment errors. Meta says it reached all eligible advertisers on 29 April 2026. It does not yet create campaigns or change budgets in the chat — Meta calls that “soon”, with previews and your approval.

What Meta AI in Ads Manager is
Meta uses the name Meta AI for several things. For advertisers, the one inside Ads Manager is the Meta AI business
assistant. Meta describes it as an intuitive, fast AI assistant — right from your Meta ad account.
and says it
lives directly within the tools you already use
: Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite and Business Support Home
(source). The product page adds Facebook Ad Center and Instagram Boost (source).
It is not the Meta AI you chat with in WhatsApp or Instagram. That consumer assistant has no access to your ad account’s results; the business assistant works with the data in your ad account (source).
How it rolled out
| What happened | |
|---|---|
| Q4 2025 | Meta starts testing the assistant with advertisers (earnings call, 28 Jan 2026) |
| 22 Apr 2026 | Global beta for advertisers and agencies of all sizes, in more languages (source) |
| 29 Apr 2026 | “Fully rolled out to all eligible advertisers on supported Meta buying surfaces” (earnings call) |
| 6 Oct 2026 | Campaign creation and budget changes in the chat announced as “soon” (source) |
The product page still says currently in beta
, and Meta tells each advertiser with a pop-up in the ad account when the
assistant is available to them (source). If you don’t see it, your account may not be eligible yet.
What it can do today, and what is announced
| Today | Announced (“soon”) | |
|---|---|---|
| Questions | Ask about your account or campaigns in plain language; charts and insights on current and past campaigns | Remembers what you tried last quarter, your seasonality and your goals |
| Recommendations | Suggestions based on your data, including opportunity score; apply them with a single click | Describe your ideal customer in plain language for Detailed Targeting (by the end of 2026) |
| Account problems | Restore disabled accounts, update spend limits, troubleshoot payment or delivery errors | — |
| Campaigns and creative | Not in the chat | Plan and create a campaign, generate images and text, change a budget conversationally |
| Routine | — | Scheduled tasks and alerts (in testing) |
Sources: Meta, 22 April 2026, product page, Meta, 6 October 2026.
Soon, you’ll be able to plan and create a campaign, generate creative imagery and text … or change a budget conversationally. … Previews, approvals, and controls let you decide what to hand off and what to own.
So the common claims go too far both ways: it does more than “only advise” — it applies recommendations and fixes account settings —
but it doesn’t build or edit campaigns in the chat yet. One independent test found it useful for quick analysis but noted that
the promised seamless transition to a human agent is currently not working reliably at all.

What Meta’s numbers mean
Meta quotes several numbers for its AI. They are averages across its own advertisers, mostly without a published method:
| Meta says | What it actually is | |
|---|---|---|
| Business assistant | Common account issues resolved at a 20% higher rate | From the beta test (source) |
| Opportunity score | Small business advertisers saw a 12% decrease in cost per result after applying recommendations | Beta, no method published (source) |
| Assistant recommendations | “Typically” 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion | No footnote (source) |
| Advantage+ leads | 14% lower cost per lead on average | Advertisers who use it compared with those who don’t — not a controlled test (earnings call, 29 Oct 2025) |
| Advantage+ leads | 10% lower cost per qualified lead | Footnoted on Meta’s page (source) |
| Video generation | More than 3% higher conversion rates | “In tests” (earnings call, 29 Apr 2026) |
An independent check points the other way for large brands: across 640 incrementality tests, Haus found that
58% of brands saw higher iROAS on Manual campaigns than Advantage+ in head-to-head tests.
(source).
Haus sells such tests and its sample is direct-to-consumer brands spending around $14 million a year on Meta, so it isn’t a verdict for a
small lead-generation account either.
How to judge it on your own account
Apply a recommendation to one campaign and leave a comparable one as it was. After a full week, compare cost per qualified lead or per sale from your CRM, not Meta’s cost per result — our guide to lead quality shows how. An average across all of Meta’s advertisers says little about yours.
The other things called “Meta AI” in advertising
| What it is | Who acts | |
|---|---|---|
| Advantage+ | Automation of audience, placements and budget. Since 2025, new sales, app and lead campaigns start with it switched on (source) | Meta’s system, inside the campaign |
| Advantage+ creative | Generated images, text, video expansion, image animation, music and more, applied to your ads (source) | Meta’s system; some features are on by default |
| Manus | A separate AI agent Meta bought at the end of 2025, linked from Ads Manager’s tools; it opens Manus’s own interface and is a paid product with a 7-day trial (source) | You, in Manus |
| Meta Business Agent | AI that replies to customers in WhatsApp and Messenger: books appointments and qualifies leads (source) | The agent, in your chats with customers |
| Muse | Meta’s personal AI agent for small businesses in the US and Canada; it looks at what works and prepares a campaign for the week: nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your approval.(source) | Muse, after your approval |
| Ads AI connectors | Meta’s way to connect your ad account to an AI assistant you already use, such as ChatGPT or Claude (source) | Your assistant, after your approval |
Some guides say the business assistant is “powered by Manus”. Meta’s announcements don’t say that: Manus appears as a separate item, and Meta’s April post about the assistant doesn’t mention it.
AI changes to your ads, and where to switch them off
The part of Meta AI that most often surprises advertisers isn’t the chat — it’s Advantage+ creative changing ads. Meta says:
Some enhancements may be turned on by default, but you can turn them off at any time.
It also recommends checking the previews
of all ads before they go live, and warns that previews do not represent an exhaustive list of all possible media-level ad variations.
(source).
Brands have reported generated images they didn’t want: one apparel brand found an AI-generated photo of a smiling grandmother running in place of its best ad, and others said automatic adjustments came back after being switched off (Business Insider, October 2025, as retold by Shopifreaks). Three places to check:
- The ad. Open it and look at the Advantage+ creative section, then Advanced preview:
Some enhancements can only be turned off in Advanced preview, and won’t be visible in the Ad creative.
(source) - Review defaults. Meta marks enhancements that are “On by default” and lists them there (source).
- The ad account settings. The “Test new creative features” checkbox lets Meta try enhancements still in testing on eligible campaigns (source).
Our ad account audit checklist includes this check. In regulated categories — financial services, health, housing, employment, credit, politics — and in some countries, generative features may not be available at all (source). Ads created or significantly edited with Meta’s generative tools get an “AI info” label that people can see (source).
Will Meta run ads for you end to end?
That is Mark Zuckerberg’s stated goal, without a date:
Our goal is to make it so that any business can basically tell us what objective they're trying to achieve -- like selling something or getting a new customer -- and how much they're willing to pay for each result, and then we just do the rest.
On the same call he spoke of doing this over the coming years
, and in an interview the next day went further:
you don’t need any creative, you don’t need any targeting demographic, you don’t need any measurement
(Stratechery).
The often-repeated “fully automated by the end of 2026” comes from The Wall Street Journal citing unnamed sources (as
retold by Verdict); Meta hasn’t announced that date. What Meta has shipped in 2026 goes the other way on control: the assistant, the ads
AI connectors and Muse all wait for an advertiser’s approval before anything goes live.
If you searched “Meta AI ads” as a user
- Your chats with Meta AI shape the ads you see. Since 16 December 2025,
interactions with AIs will be another signal we use
for content and ads, in most regions; conversations about religion, sexual orientation, politics, health and similar topics aren’t used to show ads (source). Reuters reported that the UK, the EU and South Korea were excluded and that there is no opt-out; Meta points to Ads Preferences instead. - There are no ads inside Meta AI as of October 2026; Meta has only said there will be monetisation opportunities over time (earnings call, 29 April 2026).
- No ads at all is a paid subscription only in some markets — in the UK, £2.99 a month on the web (source).
- The “Meta AI ad” with a David Bowie song is Meta’s own brand film, “The future is for everyone” (TechCrunch).
When your own AI assistant is different
Meta’s business assistant sees Meta’s data and works inside Ads Manager. An assistant you connect yourself — ChatGPT, Claude or
another — through Meta’s ads MCP server or a third-party connector works in the tool you already use and can see more than Meta: your CRM,
lead quality, other ad platforms. Meta itself pitches its connectors as a way to analyse and optimise campaigns
with the tools they’re already using
(earnings call). Agent-made changes land in Ads Manager as drafts, and
Every action is gated behind advertiser-set permissions and explicit approval before anything goes live.
(source).
- Compare the options in Meta’s official MCP server vs third-party servers.
- Set it up in Claude or ChatGPT.

Variafy is one of those third-party connectors: it reads your Meta ad accounts together with payments from Pipedrive, a Google Sheet or a file. Any Meta ad change starts with a preview and requires confirmation.
How we checked
Checked on 16 October 2026 against Meta’s own sources: Meta for Business posts of 22 April, 3 June and 6 October 2026, the business assistant and Advantage+ product pages, Meta’s newsroom, the Business Help Center pages on Advantage+ creative defaults, and the transcripts of Meta’s earnings calls from Q1 2025 to Q2 2026 (quotes taken from the PDFs). Press reports (The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Business Insider) are marked as such and were not used for Meta’s own claims. We also read the pages that currently rank for these searches and an independent test of the assistant. Meta’s Q3 2026 call, due at the end of October, may update the figures.
Variafy is our product.
Questions
What is Meta AI in Ads Manager?
It is the Meta AI business assistant: a chat inside Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite and Business Support Home that answers questions about your ad account, suggests changes you can apply with one click, and fixes problems such as disabled accounts, spend limits and payment errors.
Can Meta AI create campaigns for me?
Not in the chat yet. In October 2026 Meta announced that planning and creating campaigns, generating creative and changing budgets in the assistant are coming “soon”, with previews and approvals. Advantage+ already automates audience, placements and budget inside a campaign you create.
How do I access Meta AI business assistant?
Open Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite or Business Support Home. Meta says it has rolled out to all eligible advertisers and tells you with a pop-up in the ad account when it is available; if you don’t see it, your account may not be eligible yet.
Is Manus the same as Meta AI business assistant?
No. Manus is a separate AI agent Meta acquired at the end of 2025. Ads Manager links to it, but it opens Manus’s own interface and is a paid product with a 7-day trial, while the business assistant is a chat built into Ads Manager and Meta Business Suite.
How do I stop Meta AI from changing my ads?
Check the Advantage+ creative section of each ad and its Advanced preview, review the enhancements Meta marks “On by default”, and untick “Test new creative features” in the ad account settings. Some enhancements can only be turned off in Advanced preview.
Does Meta AI have ads?
Not as of October 2026. Meta has said it sees monetisation opportunities over time, but it has not announced ads inside Meta AI. Since December 2025, though, your conversations with Meta AI can influence the ads you see elsewhere on Facebook and Instagram in most regions.
Do Meta’s AI tools really lower cost per lead?
Meta reports a 14% lower cost per lead for advertisers using Advantage+ lead campaigns than for those who don’t, but that compares two groups rather than testing one account both ways. Test it on your own campaigns and judge by qualified leads or sales from your CRM.
